Mortality meetings in geriatric medicine: strategies for improvement

"Mortality meetings are an essential part of junior doctor training and hospital clinical governance. There is a tendency for these meetings to be poorly organised, poorly focused and poorly attended, especially by disciplines other than doctors. In this improvement project we were able to make our mortality meetings more multidisciplinary and a better learning experience for staff."

Commissioning and contracting for integrated care

"Many clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) have started to develop novel contracting and commissioning tools to drive more transformational and sustainable service integration. There is a range of contractual models being discussed and implemented across England. In this paper, we describe two broad frameworks that are currently being developed in five areas of the country to stimulate more integrated models of care – a prime contract and an alliance contract."

Service transformation: Lessons from mental health

"Some commentators have drawn parallels between the process of transformation in mental health services and what is now desired in other parts of the health system. However, there has been little detailed exploration of how far that comparison is valid or of the lessons that can be learnt. This report takes mental health services for adults in England as a case study and examines the relevance of this experience to current policy."
